Make an Alebrije!

Make an Alebrije!

Come to our library and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by making an Alebrije! Alebrijes are Mexican folk art sculputres of fantastical creatures or a combination of different animals. The first alebrijes were created in Mexico City by Pedro Linares, a Mexican artist. The idea of alebrijes came to Pedro Linares during a dream. Alebrijes are usually made out of paper-mache or carved wood and painted with bright and beautiful colors. All materials to make your alebrije will be supplied.
