Mosquito Management: Pesticide Reduction for Pollinator Protection

This session will discuss:

  • The most common mosquitoes in the DMV, their lifecycles, and when/where they're most active
  • The most effective way to reduce mosquito populations in your yard and community without using harmful pesticides
  • Best practices for protecting yourself against mosquito bites
  • How to protect pollinators and other beneficial species from harm while controlling unwanted mosquitoes.

 

Kasha Helget is a certified Master Naturalist and previous board member of the Arlington Regional Master Naturalists (ARMN). Helget collaborates with Virginia Cooperative Extension and Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia as well as entomologists from Virginia Tech to provide the latest information about both mosquito and tick safety and how to protect beneficial pollinators from pesticides.
