Sheep to Shawl: Dyeing

Sheep to Shawl: Dyeing

Ever wonder where your clothes come from? Find out through Pohick's Sheep to Shawl series, where we will trace the process from start to finish - and invite you to learn how to acquire these ancient skills for yourself.

Lindsay from Polymorph Dye Works will introduce us to the wonders of dyeing. Participants will have a chance to dye wool using professional acid dyes. Long sleeves are strongly suggested. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting some dye on!

*Participation is limited to 25 adults or teens on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets for participation will start being distributed at 1:30 pm at the public service desk.*

Next up in this series:

  • Felting - We'll learn the basics of felting by trying out two different techniques: wet felting and needle felting. Both techniques are art forms in themselves, allowing crafters and artists to paint with wool. Needle felting is also useful in repairing small holes in wool sweaters. Join us and discover the joys of felting! (May 31).
