Sheep to Shawl: Weaving

Sheep to Shawl: Weaving

Ever wonder where your clothes come from? Find out through Pohick's Sheep to Shawl series, where we will trace the process from start to finish - and invite you to learn how to acquire these ancient skills for yourself.

Learn how to warp a loom, begin to weave by contributing to a community art project, and leave with a small cardboard loom and materials to make a project. We’ll have a variety of looms available for you to look at and try out.

Next up in this series:

  • Mending - We'll focus on several techniques to help revive your clothing, including patching, darning, needle felting, and the clever use of embroidery stitches as distinctive design elements. Bring an item in need of mending; we'll figure out the best ways to fix it, identify the tools you'll need, and get you started on your repair! (July 19).

  • Wrapping Up Loose Ends - Program will be in August; more details coming soon!

For more information about other programs in this series, visit our Sheep to Shawl program series webpage.
