Building Balance and Bone Strength to Prevent Falls| Workshop with Nevin Turk

 

This workshop designed to educate and empower individuals on maintaining strong bones and preventing falls as they age.

 Workshop Highlights:

  • Interactive talk on bone health, osteopenia, and osteoporosis.
  • Guided movement practices like Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Pilates.
  • Participants will also learn about safe exercises, breathwork, and meditation techniques to enhance body awareness, healthy posture basics and bone strength.
  • Fall prevention strategies, lifestyle habits for bone health, handouts, and other resource links will be provided for continued learning.

 Open to all experience levels, it’s ideal for anyone seeking practical, mindful approaches to lifelong bone wellness.

Recommended props for the movement: 

Please bring a yoga mat, 1-2 yoga blocks (or thick books), exercise band or yoga belt, a 1–3-pound hand-held weights, two water bottles or two cans of food that would be possible to hold in your hands during the movement practice and a small size exercise ball (about 9-inches).

ABOUT NEVIN TURK

Nevin Turk is a practicing, licensed acupuncturist, and a qigong and 500-hr certified yoga instructor. She received her Master of Acupuncture degree from the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine. She is passionate about sharing natural but effective solutions to enhance wellbeing and in general for preventive health purposes.
