In Book Rebels, we'll read books that have been banned, challenged, censored, or protested around the world, as well as books that focus on freedom of expression. We'll discuss why the books were challenged and other related issues.

For June, we are reading Banned Book Club by Kim Hyun Sook, Ko Hyung-Ju, and Ryan Estrada, which is the autobiography of a South Korean woman's student days under an authoritarian regime, and how she defied state censorship with her participation in an underground banned book club.

Open to teens ages 12-18. No registration necessary. This program meets at the Club Phoenix Teen Center in the Vienna Community Center.
